Tonight, I called Carlos Gonzalez to congratulate him on a successful campaign. While we’re obviously disappointed in the result, we are proud of the campaign we ran and the important issues that we raised over the last six months. We have a lot to be proud of.
Springfield is clearly at a crossroads, and we all have a stake in the leadership and direction of our community – from promoting safe neighborhoods and improving our schools to attracting good, family-supporting jobs to Western Massachusetts.
I’d like to thank the dozens of friends and neighbors who devoted their time, energy, and financial support throughout the campaign – and to each and every resident who honored me with their vote at the polls. This was a true grassroots effort, and as a first-time candidate, I know we wouldn’t have come nearly as far without their commitment and support.
So while we came up short today, this isn’t the end of our work together. I look forward to working with everyone involved to build a stronger Springfield in the months to come. Stay tuned.
